In the summer of 2015, BMW will be continuing with the generation change under the bonnet of many of its model series. Thanks to the optimised efficiency of the new three and four-cylinder engines, both the sporting characteristics and the fuel economy of numerous models will improve yet again. Moreover, the deployment of additional petrol and diesel power units will ensure even more diversity within the model range. Furthermore, as from July 2015, the BMW M235i xDrive Convertible will be the first open-top compact model to offer four-wheel drive as an option. (more…)

Following a sweet victory in the streets of Long Beach on April 18th, BMW Team RLL will look for another West Coast win as the 2015 TUDOR United SportsCar Championship remains in California for the Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix, at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, on May 3rd. The victory at Long Beach by Bill Auberlen and Dirk Werner, driving the No. 25 BMW Z4 GTLM, has moved BMW and the Auberlen/Werner duo to second place in both Manufacturer’s and Driver’s points standings. Teammates John Edwards and Lucas Luhr, driving the No. 24 Z4 GTLM, stand fourth in Driver’s points with three top-five finishes in the first three rounds of the season. (more…)
BMW USA Classic will be well-represented at this weekend’s Classic Motorsports Mitty Speedfest, which takes place at Road Atlanta in Braselton, GA from April 24-26, 2015. Charismatic BMW racer and retailer, Boris Said, will be honored as this year’s Grand Marshal for the vintage races featuring over 300 entered cars. Said was an integral part of the BMW Team PTG years, co-driving to many victories including the Rolex 24 At Daytona, the 12 Hours of Sebring, and the Petit Le Mans. Said is the only American to have won overall at the famous Nürburgring 24 hour race, co-driving a BMW Motorsport M3 GTR in 2005. (more…)
BMW Team RLL Claims GTLM Class Front Row at Long Beach; Auberlen on Pole, Edwards P2 for Sports Car Showcase
BMW Team RLL will start the third race of the 2015 TUDOR United SportsCar Championship at Long Beach, California from the GTLM class front row.
Bill Auberlen, driving the No. 25 BMW Z4 he shares with Dirk Werner, took the pole position with a new qualifying record time of 1:17.268 minutes around the 1.968-mile, 11-turn temporary circuit that runs along the Long Beach harbor. This was the veteran’s first pole since Baltimore in 2013 and the first for the team since Road America last year. (more…)
BMW Team RLL carries the momentum of two fourth-place finishes for the No. 24 BMW Z4 GTLM car at the Rolex 24 At Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring and a second-place finish at Daytona for the No. 25 machine to the April 18th TUDOR United SportsCar Championship Sports Car Showcase. As part of the Long Beach Grand Prix weekend, the race is the shortest of the year at only 100 minutes, and is held on the 1.968-mile, 11-turn temporary street course – the site of the very first win for the BMW Z4 GTLM racing program in 2013. Lucas Luhr (DE), John Edwards (US) and Jens Klingmann (DE) finished fourth in the GTLM class for BMW Team RLL in the 12 Hours of Sebring (US), the second round of the United SportsCar Championship (USCC). The three drivers completed a total of 329 laps with the number 24 BMW Z4 GTLM. The Corvette crew of Antonio García (ES), Jan Magnussen (DK) and Ryan Briscoe (AU) claimed GTLM victory. (more…)
The basis for the latest concept vehicle, which remains a one-off and carries the name AC Schnitzer ACZ4 5.0d, is the BMW Z4 sDrive 23i (E89), but it’s been modified from the bottom up.
The core of the conversion is the engine: the M50d power plant, used for example in the BMW 5-series (F10/F11), has been upgraded and implanted into the ACZ4 5.0d. This now develops 316 kW/430 hp and has a maximum torque of 840 Nm (compared with the M50d, with 280 kW/381 hp, 740 Nm). (more…)
BMW Team RLL will begin its seventh consecutive season of sports car racing competition at this weekend’s 53rd annual Rolex 24 at Daytona (US) celebrating a very special anniversary. The race marks the 40th anniversary of BMW’s first race in the US and BMW Team RLL will compete with the numbers 24 and 25 on its two BMW Z4 GTLM machines in honour of the iconic BMW 3.0 CSL racing cars that debuted at the same race four decades ago. When Alessandro Zanardi (IT) arrived at the “Autodromo Internacional do Algarve” near Portimão (PT) today, BMW Motorsport and ROAL Motorsport welcomed him with a big surprise: a special golden livery for his BMW Z4 GT3. With this present, they were referring to the successes Zanardi celebrated with his hand-bike last weekend at the 2014 UCI Paracycling World Championships at Greenville (US). The BMW works driver won two world-titles (time trial and team relay) and one silver medal (road-race). (more…)
As well as the Nürburgring 24 Hours (DE) on 21st/22nd June, BMW Sports Trophy Team Marc VDS is also preparing for the second highlight of the 2014 endurance season: the 24-hour race in Spa-Francorchamps (BE). The Belgian team will field two BMW Z4 GT3s at its home race in the Ardennes on 26th/27th July, and is putting its faith in a strong driver line-up bolstered by BMW works drivers: Jörg Müller (DE) and the two BMW DTM drivers Maxime Martin (BE) and Augusto Farfus (BR) will share one cockpit. In the second car, Team Principal Bas Leinders (BE) will share the driving duties with BMW works driver Dirk Werner (DE) and Markus Palttala (FI). (more…)
The roadster boasts a complete wide body kit including a new front bumper, a pair of bigger side skirts as well as front and rear wheel arch extensions. There is also a new rear bumper with a diffuser. Last, but not least is the ventilated front hood and a set of 20” SSR Executor CV01 wheels fitted with Nitto Invo tires.

The power of his will is epic, because after a horrible crash in 2004, Alex lost both his legs. Still, he managed to get gold medals at the 2012 paralympic games in London. Now, Alex at the age of 47 is returning to car racing once again.
“Even after leaving the sport in 2009, I was still a racing driver at heart”, commented Zanardi.
