Substantial additions to the BMW engine range in autumn 2013 are set to lend fresh momentum to the current BMW model push. In November 2013 another three variants will be added to the line-up of engines for the most recent addition to the BMW model family, the BMW 4 Series Coupe. The BMW 435d Coupe will enter the fray as the most powerful variant of the new two-door model. Its 230 kW/313 hp six-cylinder in-line diesel engine teams up as standard with the intelligent all-wheel-drive system BMW xDrive, which will now also be available as an option for the BMW 420i Coupe and BMW 420d Coupe. At the Frankfurt International Motor Show 2013, BMW will be presenting the third generation of its highly successfulSAV (Sports Activity Vehicle), together with a third generation of a Security version based on the regular model. The BMW Concept X5 Security Plus is the only vehicle in this class which fulfills the requirements of protection level VR6. Offering all-round protection against violent assault, kidnapping and organised crime, this model therefore meets the needs of risk-exposed private individuals and prominent public figures with enhanced security needs. Particularly in regions like South America, Africa or Russia, these are often important customer considerations. BMW has also developed a further version, the BMW X5 Security, which meets the requirements of protection level VR4 and provides reliable protection against general street crime. The new BMW X5 raises efficiency to another new level in the world of the luxurious Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV). BMW is using the 2013 Frankfurt International Motor Show (IAA) to present the logical next step towards landmark efficiency in the SAV segment. The BMW Concept X5 eDrive combines the brand of driving pleasure for which the xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system is renowned and a luxurious ambience within the variable-use interior with a plug-in hybrid drive concept. Its innovative BMW eDrive technology guarantees the hallmark sporting ability of a BMW, while at the same time opening the door to speeds of up to 120 km/h (75 mph), a maximum range of 30 kilometres (19 miles) on electric power alone and average fuel consumption in the EU test cycle of 3.8 litres per 100 kilometres (74.3 mpg imp). The M performance TwinPower Turbo Inline 6-cylinder diesel engine has 3.0 liters of displacement and three turbochargers. The result is 381PS (280 kW) and 740Nm (546 lb-ft) of torque. From 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and the fuel consumption is amazing 6.3 liters per 100 km and emission of just 165 g/km of CO2.
The new amazing engine is mated to a new amazing gearbox – ZF 8-speed automatic transmission sending all that torque to the world’s most intelligent xDrive AWD system.

The aerodynamics package from Vorsteiner consists of add-on front spoiler, vented race hood and a new rear diffuser. All parts are made from Carbon Fiber Autoclave Pre-Preg to add strength and durability while maintaining a high class look.
There are no words about performance package for the mighty 4.4 liter twin-turbocharged V8 delivering 555PS (408 kW) at 6000RPM and 680Nm (500 lb-ft) from just 1500RPM. The engine is mated to a 6-speed M Sports Automatic gearbox with aluminum paddleshifters on steering wheel. 0 to 100 km/h in 5 seconds and top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) – electronically limited.
The X5 M comes with 10 mm lower Adaptive Drive suspension, 4-piston calipers at the front with huge 396mm brake discs. (more…)
