The Swiss made M4 Cabrio (F83) BMW-individualization as «dÄHLer competition line» contains power uprating up to 510...540 HP, coilovers, a high performance braking system, a stainless steel made exhaust system, improved aerodynamics and a more attractive look.
The Dähler Design & Technik GmbH does not tease out power out of the basic model (431 HP/550 Nm) only for power sake. Much more, the center of attention for Christoph Daehler and his team is the harmonic entity. Thanks to decades of experience, the specialists from Belp near Bern, Switzerland, are interested in the full interaction of all the car components.
Finally, decisive features are manoeuvrability and harmony in the interaction of many parts(such as engine, chassis, brake and exhaust systems, wheels and tires). The precisely made tuning has a more important role, than the “bang” of maximal power, which at the end cannot be controlled and brought onto the road. Furthermore, the individualized car must be verifiable and serious. All in all, the M4 Cabrio «dÄHLer competition line» puts the Bavarian basic model clearly in the shade.
Heart piece is the power uprating, which is offered in two stages:
Stage 1 already brings the 6 cylinders in-line M TwinPower Turbo with 2,979 ccm of engine capacity up to 510 HP (= 375 kW) improving the maximal torque up to 700 newton-meters between 2,400 and 5,200 rpm, sufficient to accelerate the bolide from 0 to 60 mph within 4 seconds only with top speed of 315 kmph (196 mph).
Still more power promises stage 2, lending the installed S55 engine up to 540 HP (= 397 kW). The maximal torque is of 730 newton-meters (between 2,900 and 4,900 rpm). Vmax in this stage: 327 kmph (203 mph).
Both variants reach Euro-6-standard with Swiss road approval without any difference to the serial model concerning emission behavior.
The performance coilovers, offering optional lowering and the in 18 stages adjustable traction and pressure stage warrant for still more agility. 8 piston high performance brake system with 400 millimeters brake discs and a stainless steel made exhaust system – everything “built by dÄHLer”. The called MID display system for the indication of some additional information is topping the Swiss made individualization program.
Concerning look and feel, the M4 Cabrio is tightly guided by the serial model, however, aerodynamics and especially the contact pressure on the front axle are profiting of a decent and efficient front spoiler lip.
After the slogan “powered by dÄHLer” (power uprating for BMW engines), the motto ‘built by dÄHLer” also becomes more and more principle. Following the company-own development and manufacturing of performance coilovers, high performance braking and stainless steel made exhaust systems, now will come soon the first wheel out of own production!
