The fact that BMW 1 series M Coupe with 340 hp (= 250 kW) is not initially extremely delicate, is widely recognized. Perhaps by somebody, who owns an exemplar (from a good 6.000 models in total) of the Boliden no longer in production. The company OK-Chiptuning in Neukirchen-Vluyn, which specializes in software optimization under the lead management of Kai-Uwe OTTLINGHAUS, from time to time, takes up supposedly “incorrigible” vehicles, to prove the opposite. A year on from the launch of the BMW M4 Coupe, BMW M Division is presenting an initial preview of a high-performance model for use on the road and, above all, on the race track: the BMW Concept M4 GTS.
The move sees BMW M Division once again returning to its roots. The BMW offshoot, founded in 1972 as BMW Motorsport GmbH, not only caused a sensation with its iconic BMW M1 racing car, but developed the first turbocharged engine to win the Formula One World Championship and was the force behind what remains the world’s most successful racing touring car – the Group A BMW M3. With its peerless combination of imposing appearance and sports car performance, the BMW X6 M (F86) has quickly established itself as the King of the SUV class.
Now the G-Power upgrade for the X6 M’s twin-turbo V8 increases output by 75 hp and 80 Nm, and the resulting 650 hp/478 kW and 830 Nm of torque propels this high performance SUV into the supercar league.
The key to this transformation is the G-POWER Bi-Tronik 5 V1 power module or the equivalent Bi-Tronik 2 V1 ECU remap, each of which has specific advantages. The knowhow behind these upgrades comes out of 30 years of experience in engine development, crowned by seven high-speed world records, the most spectacular being the 372.1 km/h set by the G-POWER M5 HURRICANE RR. After the green flag waved in Saturday’s two-hour Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge race at Lime Rock Park, in Lakeville, Conn. it took only 59 seconds for the first caution period to occur. Unfortunately, the cause was contact to the rear of Ashley Freiberg’s No. 46 BMW M3 in the middle of Grand Sport class competitor scrum that forced her on the wet grass, then into and almost over the turn four tire wall. For the second consecutive race BMW Motorsport driver Trent Hindman was unable to drive. (more…)
