The star billing in BMW’s current M portfolio, the F8X series M3/M4 now receives a performance upgrade from G-POWER centred on their in-house developed Bi-Tronik 2 V2.
Boosting output to 560 hp / 412 kW with 720 Nm of torque, this conversion catapults the Bavarian super saloon/coupe to 100km/h from a standing start in just 3.8 seconds.
In line with G-POWER’s seven high-speed world records, a customer can also request the remap to include removal of the factory Vmax limitation, raising top speed to a theoretical 330km/h. In reality, the car will achieve around 310km/h. (more…)
BMW Team RLL will participate in the Nov. 17-18 IMSA test at Daytona International Speedway marking the first public test of BMW’s latest endurance racing challenger, the BMW M6 GTLM. As announced during last season’s Petit Le Mans weekend, BMW Team RLL is expected to campaign two M6 GTLM race cars in the 2016 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
The M6 GTLM recently completed its first US test at Sebring International Raceway in late October along with a M6 GT3 machine that will provide the foundation for BMW’s worldwide customer racing program. 2015 season drivers Bill Auberlen, Dirk Werner and John Edwards participated at Sebring along with 2014 GTLM driver champion Kuno Wittmer, who has signed with BMW of (more…)
The city of Dusseldorf takes delivery of twelve BMW police cars. The Munich-based automaker delivered the 318d Tourings to the Interior Minister – Ralf Jäger.
Over the next three years, BMW will supply a total of 1,800 BMW 3 Series Touring to the police and therefore set the new standard for patrol cars. In addition, the BMW Group also provides 130 BMW 5 Series Touring (F11 520d LCI) and 121 BMW R 1200 RT motorcycles – all suitable vehicles for numerous police scenarios. (more…)

BMW had barely removed the wraps from their brand new M2 when Alpha-N Performance revealed how their in-house ‘RS’ version of this new high-performance coupe might look.
For greater aerodynamic efficiency and a more purposeful appearance, the Alpha-N engineers equipped the aggressive nose of the M2 with a carbon fibre front spoiler featuring an adjustable air splitter and optimised brake-cooling vents. The basis for the electronic output increase from G-POWER for the BMW M6 convertible is the fact that G-POWER, in contrast to the manufacturer, does not use standard software full of compromises for the engine but an individual solution. G-POWER calls this bespoke remapping of the factory ECU: Bi-Tronik 2. Among others, the parameters for the amount of fuel and the ignition timing are modified depending on the increased boost level. At the same time the Bi-Tronik 2 allows the individual wishes of the customer vis-à-vis throttle response and power delivery characteristics to be written into the software. (more…)

BMW has set a course for the future in GT racing with the presentation of the newly developed BMW M6 GT3 at the 66th IAA Cars 2015 in Frankfurt am Main (DE). The racing version of the BMW M6 Coupe will be sent into action by numerous private teams from the 2016 season in a host of championships and renowned race events around the world as part of the BMW Sports Trophy.
BMW Motorsport has channelled its vast well of experience amassed since 2010 with the BMW M6 GT3’s successful predecessor, the BMW Z4 GT3, into the development of the new car. Indeed, the new GT3 racer boasts a raft of improvements, particularly in the areas of drivability and economy. One example is the use of a series-produced engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology, which develops higher output and an increase in torque. BMW M GmbH is set to unveil a BMW M3 in “Münchner Wirte” livery to coincide with this year’s Oktoberfest in Munich (19 September – 4 October). The one-off car will underscore the company’s ties with motor sport in general and the city of Munich in particular. The livery design of the BMW M3 “Münchner Wirte” harks back to that of the legendary BMW M1 Procar from 1981, complete with Bavarian-style façade painting and blue and white twisted cords, along with depictions of Munich landmarks (such as the Olympic Stadium, Siegestor, Frauenkirche church and BMW’s headquarters – the “four-cylinder” building), a roast chestnut seller and the Wiesn-Schänke beer tent at the Oktoberfest.
