BMW celebrates 60th anniversary of the 507With only 252 units built from 1956 to 1959, the BMW 507 remains one of the rarest and most expensive BMWs ever built. To celebrate its 60th anniversary, BMW will be opening an exhibition at its museum in Munich. Called “Family Affairs – Variations on a Design Icon,” visitors to BMW’s facility will be able to see the design drafts to see where all of the elements of this car originally came from. A a Michelotti-designed red 507 concept can be seen also on display. Giovanni Michelotti is regarded as one of the most prolific and talented sports cars designers of the 20th century. A 507 prototype will make an appearance as well. (more…)

BMW 2 Series Convertible M235i Front AnglePremium quality, reliability and ergonomics: these three attributes have earned BMW top placings in the prestigious Initial Quality Study by market researchers at J.D. Power and Associates. Each year this study assesses the quality of new cars in North America, and in 2015 has a total of five awards lined up for BMW. It is the first time BMW has topped three segments, namely with the BMW 2 Series, the BMW 4 Series and the BMW 5 Series. In addition, the BMW plants in Rosslyn, South Africa, and Dingolfing, Germany, have been honoured for their high production quality. (more…)

TDI-Tuning – BMW’s Growth in Performance

TDI-Tuning BMW M5 Front AngleBritish tuning designer and engineering firm TDI-Tuning has seen a marked increase in the number of BMW performance models being fitted with the company’s state-of-the-art tuning boxes. Since the beginning of the year, demand from BMW owners has in fact risen by 10%.

This echoes a buoyant first-quarter results from the German manufacturer, which reports a growth of more than 20% in its underlying earnings. (more…)

2015 G-Power BMW M550d Front AngleThe BMW M550d is not just impressive because of its pioneer engine layout – speaking of multi-stage turbocharging and variable turbine geometry with three turbochargers – but because of its power output as well: 381 hp (280 kW) and a 740 Nm of torque enable a “M”- like driving dynamics, thus this Power-Diesel is allowed to carry the legendary “M” in its name. The first Diesel in the BMW history!
