Premium quality, reliability and ergonomics: these three attributes have earned BMW top placings in the prestigious Initial Quality Study by market researchers at J.D. Power and Associates. Each year this study assesses the quality of new cars in North America, and in 2015 has a total of five awards lined up for BMW. It is the first time BMW has topped three segments, namely with the BMW 2 Series, the BMW 4 Series and the BMW 5 Series. In addition, the BMW plants in Rosslyn, South Africa, and Dingolfing, Germany, have been honoured for their high production quality. (more…)

British tuning designer and engineering firm TDI-Tuning has seen a marked increase in the number of BMW performance models being fitted with the company’s state-of-the-art tuning boxes. Since the beginning of the year, demand from BMW owners has in fact risen by 10%.
This echoes a buoyant first-quarter results from the German manufacturer, which reports a growth of more than 20% in its underlying earnings. (more…)

The BMW M550d is not just impressive because of its pioneer engine layout – speaking of multi-stage turbocharging and variable turbine geometry with three turbochargers – but because of its power output as well: 381 hp (280 kW) and a 740 Nm of torque enable a “M”- like driving dynamics, thus this Power-Diesel is allowed to carry the legendary “M” in its name. The first Diesel in the BMW history!
But this is not the end in terms of power output, yet. Thanks to the microprocessor controlled power module D-Tronik 5 V1 the M550d becomes a real G-POWER amongst the BMW diesel models. More than 435 hp/(320 kW) and an awesome 850 Nm of torque are the result of the dyno test. (more…)

The wheel rim specialists from Oxigin Leichtmetallräder in Swabian Unterensingen prove that their current wheel rim design “18 Concave” looks particularly handsome on the large BMW models with the two XL Bavarians presented here.
The white 5 series Touring from the F11 series has been equipped with the Oxigin 18 in the popular finish black full polish with undercut. It’s very practical: there is a TÜV expert report for the sizes used, 9×20 and 10.5×20 inch, in combination with tyres sized 245/35ZR20 and 285/30ZR20, for the current generation of the BMW 5 series F10/11. This permits easy registration in the vehicle documents. The significantly concave shape of the Oxigin 18 Concave is very well visible in the white station wagon. At the vehicle shown, it is 45 mm at the front and as much as 67 millimetres at the rear axle. (more…)
