G-POWER calls this bespoke remapping of the factory ECU: Bi-Tronik 2. Among others, the parameters for the amount of fuel and the ignition timing are modified depending on the increased boost level. At the same time the Bi-Tronik 2 allows the individual wishes of the customer vis-à-vis throttle response and power delivery characteristics to be written into the software. (more…)

BMW Team RLL finishes second and fourth at Road Atlanta – Rain causes early end to USCC season finaleThe 2015 United SportsCar Championship (USCC) came to an early end at Road Atlanta (US): At Petit Le Mans, which was called off two hours short of its scheduled ten hours due to bad weather conditions, John Edwards (US), Lucas Luhr (DE) and Jens Klingmann (DE) finished second in the GTLM class with the number 24 BMW Z4 GTLM. It was also P2 in the overall classification for the BMW trio. Car number 25, driven by Bill Auberlen (US), Dirk Werner (DE) and Augusto Farfus (BR), came fourth in the GTLM category. Porsche’s Nick Tandy (GB), Patrick Pilet (FR) and Richard Lietz (AT) secured victory at Road Atlanta (US). For the third time this season, the number 24 BMW Z4 GTLM won the DEKRA Green Challenge Award. (more…)

Oktoberfest date for one-off BMW M3 “Münchner Wirte”


2015 BMW M3 Munchner Wirte Front AngleBMW M GmbH is set to unveil a BMW M3 in “Münchner Wirte” livery to coincide with this year’s Oktoberfest in Munich (19 September – 4 October). The one-off car will underscore the company’s ties with motor sport in general and the city of Munich in particular. The livery design of the BMW M3 “Münchner Wirte” harks back to that of the legendary BMW M1 Procar from 1981, complete with Bavarian-style façade painting and blue and white twisted cords, along with depictions of Munich landmarks (such as the Olympic Stadium, Siegestor, Frauenkirche church and BMW’s headquarters – the “four-cylinder” building), a roast chestnut seller and the Wiesn-Schänke beer tent at the Oktoberfest. BMW i8 climbs Mt. Washington


BMW i8 climbs Mt. WashingtonThis past weekend, Jay Baier of Turner Motorsport drove their BMW i8 up the Mt. Washington Auto road which is where the Mt. Washington Hillclimb “Climb to the Clouds” race takes place.

It’s an 8 mile mountain road that climbs to the top of the 6,288 ft summit which is home to the “World’s Worst Weather” and the highest peak in the Northeastern US. The Mount Washington Observatory recorded a windspeed of 231 MPH which was a world record up until 2009. (more…)
