BMW to Continue as the Official Vehicle Partner for the FIA Formula E Championship through the 2015/16 season

2015 BMW i8 Safety Car Front AngleBMW will be lining up for the FIA Formula E Championship once again in 2015/16 . The second season of the race series gets underway in Beijing on 17 October 2015, and BMW will be on hand as the Official Vehicle Partner.

The futuristic BMW i8 sports car (fuel consumption combined: 2.1 l/100 km / 134.5 mpg imp; CO2 emissions combined: 49 g/km) will once again see action as the Safety Car in the trailblazing race series for electrically-powered formula machines. And the all-electric (and therefore emission-free) BMW i3 (energy consumption combined: 12.9 kWh; CO2 emissions combined: 0 g/km) will perform the role of Medical Car, as it did in the series’ inaugural season. Added to which, a pair of BMW C evolution electric scooters and a BMW X5 xDrive40e plug-in hybrid (fuel consumption combined: 3.4–3.3 l/100 km / 83.1–85.6 mpg imp; CO2 emissions combined: 78–77 g/km; figures based on the EU test cycle, may vary depending on the tyre format specified) will be making their Formula E debuts, as models from other BMW Group brands join the BMW i cars in the eDrive family . BMW Team RLL Finishes Fourth and Fifth at VIRginia International RacewayBMW Team RLL finished fourth and fifth in front of the large crowd that watched today’s two-hour-and-forty-minute TUDOR United SportsCar Championship Oak Tree Grand Prix at VIRginia International Raceway, in Alton, Va. John Edwards and Lucas Luhr, driving the No. 24 BMW Z4, finished fourth. Bill Auberlen and Dirk Werner finished fifth in the No. 25 machine. Both BMWs ended the race in the same positions from which they started. The race was won by the No. 911 Porsche. (more…)

While initially the F20 1 Series was bashed for its quirky design (later fixed), the 2 Series family has always been praised for its sporty and beautiful lines.

These are the VMR V706 wheels in 19 inches front and rear, and finished with a flashy Titan Bronze color. BMW Team RLL finishes fifth and sixth at Road AmericaBMW Team RLL finished fifth and sixth in Sunday’s two-hour-and-forty-minute Continental Tire Road Race Showcase at Road America (US). Bill Auberlen (US) and Dirk Werner (DE) finished fifth in the number 25 BMW Z4 GTLM. John Edwards (US) and Lucas Luhr (DE), driving the number 24 machine, finished one position behind in sixth. The race was won by the number 911 Porsche of Nick Tandy (GB) and Patrick Pilet (FR). (more…)
