The BMW 3 Series is BMW’s best selling car and has been consistently near or at the top of the sales charts for many years. Part of the compact executive class of cars, the 3 Series can probably lay claim to having defined that market segment over the years and helping to develop it into the sales success it is now.
BMW has been building their 3 Series model in various body styles – saloon, estate and 2-door – since 1975, although in more recent times it is the saloon that has proven popular with company car drivers, with many people getting into a new BMW 3 Series contract hire scheme. BMW 5-Series F10 535i is perfect choice for everyday vehicle. It offers great comfort, superb performance and low fuel consumption, considering its power. However, Infiniti has recently introduced the M37S, which offers nearly the same qualities.
The F10 535i is powered by 3.0 liter in-line six-cylinder petrol engine equipped with , twin-scroll turbocharger. The engine features BMW’s EfficientDynamics technologies including VALVETRONIC throttle-less intake technology and High Precision direct injection. The result is 306HP (225 kW) at 5,800RPM and 400Nm (296 lb-ft) of torque at just 1,200RPM. 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). The engine is mated to an 8-speed ZF Automatic gearbox. The fuel consumption is 10.4 liters per 100 km in city and 6.3 liters per 100 km on the highway. The combined cycle is 8.1 liters per 100 km. The Infiniti M37S is powered by a 3.7-litre V6 petrol with VVEL (Variable Valve Event and Lift). It develops 320HP (236 kW) at 7,000RPM and 360Nm (267 lb-ft) of torque at 5,200RPM. 0-100 km/h in 6.2 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). The engine is mated to a 7-speed automatic gearbox. The fuel consumption is 14.9 liters per 100 km in city, 7.4 liters on the highway and a combined cycle of 10.2 liters per 100 km.
So, the easy math is that the Infiniti is a lot more “thirsty” than the BMW, but still offers decent performance qualities. Other minus is that the M37S is slightly more expensive than the BMW.
Still, the Infiniti M37S is a great choice and which is better is up to the customer’s taste.
There is no doubt that the orange Manhart MH3 V8 RS Clubsport, based on the E92 M3, was (and still is) one of the most spectacular and most popular customised BMW vehicles of recent years. The creators of the MH3 V8 RS Clubsport – the performance specialists at Manhart Racing in Wuppertal, Germany – are now transplanting its internal organs into their new customised M3 convertible so to speak. The transplant involves ‘taming’ the new M3 slightly, as over against the MH3 V8 RS Clubsport, but it still creates the quickest and most powerful convertible of its class. The newly-developed and constructed MH3 V8 R Biturbo convertible again underscores the fact that the specialists at Manhart have lost nothing of their legendary technical expertise, even under new management.
