The new MINI remains on course for growth. After its successful market launch, the engine range for the new original in the small car premium segment continues to expand as of July 2014. In future, the selection will include the new MINI Cooper SD as the most powerful diesel variant and the new entry-level petrol engine model MINI One First. Both newcomers offer an impressively favourable balance between driving fun and fuel consumption. In total there are now seven power units available for the model produced at the British MINI plant in Oxford, including four petrol and three diesel engines – all of which were completely newly developed. The brand new BMW M235i Coupé, which stands out for a 326 horse power-strong serial six-cylinder turbo engine that is tightly bound to the accelerator ex-works, a maximum torque of 450 Nm as well as the typically firm BMW driving behavior serves as a basis. The world’s first BMW i8s (fuel consumption combined: 2.1–0.0 l/100 km; CO2 emissions combined: 49–0 g/km) were handed over to customers today at BMW Welt in Munich: The first eight customers from Germany received their BMW i8s as part of an official ceremony in which Roland Krüger, Head of Sales and Marketing Germany for the BMW Group, and Dr. Helmut Schramm, Head of Production Electric Vehicles at Plant Leipzig, presented them with the keys to their new cars.
The first BMW i8 cars also feature the ground-breaking BMW laser light.
An exclusive evening reception to mark the BMW i8 market launch, with celebrity guests, such as TV presenter Thomas Gottschalk and actor Thomas Kretschmann, rounded off the official vehicle presentation. (more…)

The Continental Tire Sports Car Championship headlined the racing at Lime Rock Park, in Lakeville, Conn., on May 24 with BMW teams racing to two top-five finishes in the Street Tuner class and two top-10 finishes in the Grand Sport class. In a departure from the season’s opening three rounds the results marked the first time a BMW did not finish on either class podium.
The starting grids for each of Saturday’s 150-minute races were determined by points standings because heavy rain forced an end to Friday’s qualifying sessions. That meant three BMWs in the top-10 Street Tuner and two in the top-five Grand Sport starting positions, including the pole for GS points leaders John Edwards and Trent Hindman. (more…)
On the 7th of June 2014 at 10.00 clock SuperCarClub 500 will broadcast their motorsport event „Rolling50“ via LIVE-Stream on the Internet. For the 2nd time this event will take place at airfield D-Meinerzhagen (NRW). 4-5 events a year are planned.
Rolling50 is a drag race from 50 km/h. Over a distance of 400 meter ( 1/4 mile) the cars will reach a speed of over 200 km/h. Porsche Turbo, BMW M, AMG, Audi R8, Ferrari and Lamborghini as well as Nissan GTR with 1000 hp and many other car-models take part to this powerful event. A colorful program with show acts of racing driver David Schiwietz ( Kremer Racing Team ) and Trackforce.de with their Porsche race car of the current VLN series will complete the event. Because at this event spectators are not allowed at the Airfield, the organizer Peter Klein ( 1st Chairman of the SCC500 ) committed Reelive TV in order to manage the technical implementation of the LIVE stream. In this way, the SCC500 wants to give all motor sports enthusiasts the opportunity to take part to this adrenaline-filled event from everywhere in the world. The last one drives the all-new BMW M4, which has a 3.0 liter TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder engine with 430HP (317 kW) and 550Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque. 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds with 7-speed M Double Clutch Transmission and 4.4 seconds with the standard 6-speed manual. The top speed is limited to 250 km/h (155 mph).

BMW has presented the Concept Roadster,which was was exhibited at the 2014 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. The Concept Roadster represents BMW’s vision of the future generations of boxer-powered roadsters. The motorcycle is powered by a newly developed two-cylinder 1.2 liter boxer engine with 125HP (92 kW) at 7,750RPM and 125Nm (93 lb-ft) of torque at 6,500RPM.
It features a single-sided swing arm with cardan drive and a light tubular space frame. It boasts a typical low front end and high rear one, which enables the rider to control it easier. Concept Roadster comes with LED front and rear lights as well as a fuel tank of gloss milled aluminum. The self-supporting rear structure is fashioned from a single piece. Last, but not least is the integrated single seat upholstered in Alcantara. (more…)
