The BMW M3 E9X is the perfect base for a track day car, a fact that specialist tuner, G-Power, has repeatedly demonstrated. Now, the combination of their SK III supercharger conversion and carbon-fibre aerodynamic parts turn their M3 RS into a serious player in the supercar league.

Adding power makes a car faster. Simultaneously reducing weight makes it even faster. With this in mind, G-Power undertook an in-house CAD development programme to create bespoke carbon-fibre aerodynamic components for the BMW M3 E9X.
The largest carbon-fibre component on the car is the vented Carbon Venturi bonnet ‘RR’, which weighs just 8.4 kg weight, a saving of 2.6 kg. Designed to dissipate the extra heat produced by the uprated engine more efficiently, this lightweight bonnet is also available in a body coloured ‘RS’ version.
As the engine thermal protection protocols mapped into the ECU retard the ignition when a pre-determined temperature is reached, resulting in significant power reduction, this vented bonnet is vital to maintaining optimum performance.
Reducing lift over the front axle, the G-Power ‘RS’ carbon-fibre front spoiler is available with or without air intakes. At the other end of the car, the ‘RS’ carbon-fibre boot lid saves almost 5.0 kg, and emphasises the motorsport character of the BMW M3. The boot lid mounted GTS style carbon-fibre rear wing reduces lift over the rear axle, and thanks to CNC-machined aluminium struts, weighs just 1.2 kg.
The G-Power SK III supercharger system increases the output of the BMW M3 E9X to 740 hp, 700 Nm of torque, placing it firmly in major league supercar territory. The huge power increase of 320 hp is achieved through a displacement increase from 4.0 to 4.6-litres, followed by the installation of an ASA T1-724 supercharger with a high efficiency charge-air intercooler.
The core of the uprated engine is a special set of forged pistons made for G-Power by their technology partner Mahle. To ensure the utmost reliability of the uprated motor, a tailor-made oil and water cooler package ensures that the temperatures of these vital fluids always remain within proscribed limits, even when running hard in hot climates.
Such OE levels of reliability and potential longevity, coupled to instant throttle response and smooth running at all engine speeds, and in all driving conditions is down to the expertise of the G-Power team, some of whom have 30 years experience in the business.
Spent gases exit through a hand-made G-Power titanium exhaust system incorporating a pair of 100-cell metal sport catalysts. The weight saving is a massive 26 kg over the original steel system!
Reduction of unsprung weight is an effective way of improving acceleration, handling and braking, and is achieved using G-Power’s HURRICANE RR forged alloy wheels. Sized 9.0 and 10.5x20-inches front and rear, these wheels are shod with 245/30ZR20 and 295/25ZR20 Michelin tyres.
Forged from ultra-light, aircraft-grade aluminium, these wheels are available in three different colours - Jet Black, Gun Metal Grey & Stardust Silver - and can be further personalised on request. Additionally, the HURRICANE RR wheel is also available in a polished version with a ‘Diamond Cut’ high-sheen surface finish.
