Paying tribute to the iconic ZHP Performance Package, BMW today released details for a 2016 BMW 435i ZHP Coupe Edition. The original ZHP option code was created by BMW Individual as a performance package for the 2003-2006 E46 3 Series that included the M-Tech II body kit, a ZHP shifter knob and shifter, upgraded suspension parts and settings, a different DME and special cam shafts that raised power output to 235 hp and allowed for a higher redline. Fulfilling the desires of true enthusiasts, the package was soon referred to by its internal option package code ‘ZHP’. BMW of North America embraced the thirst for the unique BMW 435i ZHP Coupe Edition once more resulting in the unique collaboration between factory options and key elements from the exciting BMW M Performance Accessory catalogue. BMW M Division, partner of MotoGP organiser Dorna Sports, presented the next highlight in its MotoGP involvement at the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez de la Frontera (ES) today: the car to be presented to the winner of the coveted BMW M Award. Since 2003, the rider with the best qualifying results come the end of the season has been rewarded with an exclusive, individually customised BMW M car. This year too, a very special prize awaits the top MotoGP qualifier: the new BMW M6 Convertible, with individual extras. It seems the folks over at Vossen Wheels have an affection for the Melbourne Red BMW 6 Series. The recently revealed BMW 650i M-Sport with Vossen CVT Gloss Graphite wheels has just received an update. This time, the wheel company chose to install a set of these same wheels, but with a different finish.
These Vossen CVT wheels are sized 22? with a Gloss Graphite finish. The interesting spoke design, matched with a nice lowering for this BMW 6 Series, improves the outer appearance of the car even further. The wheel spokes have an aggressive and directional design which make for an interesting look. The Gloss Graphite finish works well wit the Melbourne Red color adding a contrasting effect to the car. The BMW M550d is not just impressive because of its pioneer engine layout – speaking of multi-stage turbocharging and variable turbine geometry with three turbochargers – but because of its power output as well: 381 hp (280 kW) and a 740 Nm of torque enable a “M”- like driving dynamics, thus this Power-Diesel is allowed to carry the legendary “M” in its name. The first Diesel in the BMW history!
But this is not the end in terms of power output, yet. Thanks to the microprocessor controlled power module D-Tronik 5 V1 the M550d becomes a real G-POWER amongst the BMW diesel models. More than 435 hp/(320 kW) and an awesome 850 Nm of torque are the result of the dyno test. (more…)
Tuning specialists, Alpha-N Performance, who are located in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler, not too far from the Nürburgring, are offering an attractive carbon-fibre aero package to highlight the motorsport character of the new BMW M4 Coupe.
