BMW X6 M Model almost ready

Oct

BMW X6 M Model almost ready "Our dear friend Palbay from Upstate SC came through for us again. He was able to spot the car near the BMW Performance Center track in Spartanburg. We mentioned several times before that an M version of the popular X6 model will be available sometimes in 2009 and throughout the last few months, we have seen several spy photos of the car undergoing testing and more testing. Rumors floating around the web say the BMW X6M will be powered by a 5.0-liter V10 with 373kW and 520Nm of torque, even though we believe that a twin-turbo engine will be more suitable for the job. The 4.4 V8 Twin-Turbo can be the ideal choice. The car already weighs around 5,000 lbs and placing a heavy V10 engine in it, would not make much sense. Palbay says that this X6 seems a little further ...

BMW X6 evaluation

BMW X6 evaluation 1. Looks Can a five-door coupe-hatchback-SUV ever work? In a word, yes. The BMW X6 is the most striking car the company makes, combining truly gargantuan proportions to offer up massive road presence. Make no mistake, this is a big car. The BMW X6 takes the pumped-up looks of the BMW X5 SUV and chops the roof to create the world’s first production SUV-coupe. The sloping roof mixes excellently with the rising waistline sweeping from the front through to the high rear, while the familiar BMW face lends an intimidating front for such a high-riding car. And it draws attention on the road like no other – be warned, this is definitely not a car for shrinking violets. 10/102. Looks inside The familiar BMW ergonomics continue inside, and the cabin is lifted pretty much intact from the X5 – which ...

Sports Edition for the BMW X6 released BMW is adding a new Edition Sport package to its 6-Series coupe and convertible. This option - available in all non-M models - adds unique 19" alloy wheels, a contoured bonnet, stiffer anti-roll bars, a brushed aluminium-trimmed interior and a choice of new colours including Imola Red and Carbon Black. 650i versions with the Edition Sport pack add a sports exhaust. Prices start from £53,445 for the 630i Edition Sport coupe. BMW is also adding its twin-turbo V8 4.4-litre petrol engine to the X6. The 408bhp X6 xDrive50i can do 155mph and 0-62mph in 5.4 seconds. It returns 22.6mpg and 299g/km of carbon dioxide which is, at least, better than the fuel economy and emissions of comparable Range Rover Sport and Porsche Cayenne models. Prices for this model will start from £53,930, and UK deliveries begin in November.

Half SUV, half sports car The BMW X6 is a mid-size crossover SUV released for sale in the second quarter of 2008 by German automaker BMW. The X6 combines the attributes of an SUV (high ground clearance, all wheel drive and all-weather ability, large wheels and tires) with the stance of a coupé (bold styling, dramatic sloping roof). It is built in BMW's North American plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina alongside the BMW X5 whose platform it shares. It is dubbed "Sports Activity Coupé" by BMW, and while slightly longer and wider than the X5 is significantly lower and seats only four people. The concept model debuted at the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show. The production X6 officially debuted at the 2008 Detroit International Auto Show. A hybrid version, which will be the first such vehicle from BMW, was also announced.
